Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers about Batch Keeper’s mileage tracking, customer arrival alerts, profitability calculator, privacy, location permissions, and subscription.
What is Batch Keeper?
Batch Keeper is an independent mobile app created for grocery delivery shoppers. It provides tools for estimating batch profitability, tracking work sessions and mileage, calculating fuel costs, saving private customer notes, receiving customer arrival alerts, and understanding estimated earnings after expenses.
Who created Batch Keeper?
Batch Keeper was created by José Villalobos, an independent grocery delivery shopper based in Chicago. The app was built from real delivery experience and the everyday challenges shoppers encounter while evaluating batches, tracking expenses, and completing deliveries.
Is Batch Keeper affiliated with Instacart?
No. Batch Keeper is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated by Instacart, Spark Driver, or any other grocery delivery platform.
Any platform names mentioned on our website or in the app are used only to explain how independent shoppers may use Batch Keeper as a separate organizational tool.
Does Batch Keeper connect to or control my delivery apps?
No. Batch Keeper does not log into, access, modify, automate, or control your delivery-platform accounts.
It operates independently and does not automatically accept, reject, or cancel batches. Shoppers remain responsible for their own decisions and for following the rules of every delivery platform they use.
How does the batch profitability calculator work?
The calculator uses information entered by the shopper, such as batch payment, estimated mileage, number of items, number of units, number of customers, and expected driving time.
Batch Keeper then produces an estimate to help the shopper evaluate whether a batch may be worth the required time and operating costs.
The result is an estimate only and does not guarantee actual earnings or profitability.
How does mileage tracking work?
Mileage tracking begins only when you manually start a work session in Batch Keeper. During an active session, the app uses your device’s location to calculate distance traveled, including when the app is in the background or the screen is locked.
Tracking stops when you end the session. Batch Keeper uses the calculated mileage, your vehicle’s fuel economy, and the fuel price you provide to estimate fuel costs and real earnings.
Does Batch Keeper store my complete driving route?
Batch Keeper calculates distance from location updates, but it does not permanently store a complete history of your raw GPS route.
Saved work-session records may include calculated mileage, duration, earnings, estimated fuel costs, and related session results.
What are Customer Arrival Alerts?
Customer Arrival Alerts use your saved customer addresses and your device’s geofencing capabilities. When you approach a monitored customer location, Batch Keeper can send a notification reminding you of your previous delivery experience with that customer.
Tapping the notification can open the corresponding customer record in Batch Keeper.
Do Customer Arrival Alerts continuously track my location?
Customer Arrival Alerts use operating-system geofencing rather than requesting a GPS update every few seconds. The device monitors the boundaries around eligible saved customer locations and notifies Batch Keeper when you enter one of those areas.
Background location permission is required for these alerts to work while Batch Keeper is minimized or your screen is locked. You can disable Customer Arrival Alerts at any time.
What information can I save about a customer?
You may save information such as a customer’s name, delivery address, tip experience, delivery difficulty, private notes, safety concerns, and other details that may help with a future delivery.
You are responsible for entering accurate, lawful, and appropriate information. Do not include unnecessary sensitive information, discriminatory comments, threats, or illegal content.
Are my customer records visible to other shoppers?
No. Your saved customer records, notes, ratings, tips, and delivery experiences are private to your account. Batch Keeper does not publish them for other shoppers or customers to view.
What does Nearby Shopper Activity show?
The Nearby feature may show an approximate count of participating Batch Keeper users in the same general area.
It does not reveal their names, personal information, customer records, or exact locations. Participation in this feature is optional.
Can Batch Keeper guarantee that I will earn more money?
No. Batch Keeper provides organizational tools and estimates intended to support your own decisions.
Actual earnings depend on many factors outside Batch Keeper’s control, including available orders, platform pay, tips, traffic, distance, fuel prices, vehicle expenses, taxes, and individual work decisions.
Are Batch Keeper’s mileage and earnings calculations suitable for taxes?
Batch Keeper can help you maintain useful work-session and mileage estimates, but it does not provide tax, accounting, financial, or legal advice.
Tax rules and documentation requirements vary. You should consult a qualified tax professional to determine whether your records satisfy applicable requirements.
Why does Batch Keeper request location permission?
Location may be used for features including:
-
Active mileage tracking
-
Customer arrival alerts
-
Nearby shopper activity
-
Local weather information
-
Address and map-related functions
Some features use foreground location, while mileage tracking and arrival alerts may require background location. You can manage permissions through your device settings and disable optional location features in the app.
Does Batch Keeper sell personal information or display advertisements?
No. Batch Keeper does not sell personal information and does not use advertising networks to display targeted ads.
Some information is processed by service providers necessary to operate the app, including Clerk for authentication, RevenueCat and Google Play for subscriptions, Open-Meteo for weather information, and mapping services for address-related features.
For complete details, read our Privacy Policy.

Batch Keeper offers a 7-day free trial to eligible new subscribers. After the trial, the subscription renews automatically for $499 per month unless canceled.
Pricing, taxes, eligibility, billing, and currency are managed through Google Play and may be displayed before you confirm a subscription.
Who is eligible for the 7-day free trial?

The Google Play purchase screen will show whether the trial is available before you confirm the subscription.

Does deleting my Batch Keeper account cancel my subscription?
No. Deleting your Batch Keeper account does not automatically cancel a Google Play subscription.
You must cancel the subscription separately through Google Play to prevent future renewal charges.
Can I delete my Batch Keeper account and data?
Yes. You can request permanent account deletion from inside the app. You can also review the instructions on our Account Deletion Request page.
